An illustration of 50 key words and phrases sampled from the front and back covers of 30+ books listed in The Mountain Library that describe experiences in the mountains of the world.*
On book covers publishers illustrate the stories and inspirations of mountain climbers, travellers and artists using language that incites drama, wonder and excitement, to compel people to purchase. The creators of those stories may or may not agree on what words end up on the back cover, nor do they often share their publishers view on what mountains mean to them.
